Help Willy's Friends Essay Award Contest

This morning, I received really Good News from Help Willy's Friends. It goes Hi All: Just to let you know that despite the rainy and cold weather, there are now 21 animals happily living with their new forever families as a result of the 2013 HWF Pet Fair. We're sure the turnout would have been better had Mother Nature cooperated, but for those 21 dogs and their families, the sun couldn't have shone any brighter that day! Also, we are pleased to announce the winners of this year's Willy Award Essay Contest: First prize - $2,500 - went to Helping Hands for Wildlife Second prize - $1,000 - went to No Animal Left Unfed Third prize - $500 - went to Meriden Animal Control We thank everyone who submitted an essay and hope you'll enter the contest again next year Yep, No Animal Left Unfed, Inc came in 2nd in the Willy Award Essay Contest. Rock Cats Offer FREE Tickets to New Britain Residents: New Britain, CT – The New Britain Rock Cats and City of New Britain Mayor Timothy O’Brien announced today that for upcoming Rock Cats games on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd, residents of New Britain who provide proper identification at the New Britain Stadium Box Office will receive a free General Admission ticket to the game. “The Mayor, Common Council and other political leaders in the City of New Britain have been incredibly supportive of the Rock Cats” said Rock Cats’ President Bill Dowling. “We wanted to recognize and acknowledge that support by allowing city residents to attend any one or all three of our upcoming games between July 1st and 3rd.” “This is a wonderful opportunity for families and people of all ages to experience excellent entertainment in a positive environment. The Rock Cats are a vital asset to our community and we are grateful for their generous gesture,” stated New Britain Mayor Tim O’Brien. The Rock Cats will be taking on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, AA Eastern League affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, during this pre-4th of July homestand. Monday, July 1st is the annual “Bark in the Park” night sponsored by Uberdog, a special occasion when Rock Cats fans can bring their “best friends” to the ballpark. Tuesday, July 2nd is “Power of Ability” night sponsored by Rideshare. Wednesday, July 3rd is sponsored by the Kocian Law Group and will feature the annual pregame Naturalization ceremony as well as a special 4th of July Postgame Fireworks Show. Game time for the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night contests is 7:05 PM. The Rock Cats will be hosting the 2013 Eastern League All-Star Game presented by Dunkin’ Donuts on Wednesday, July 10, at 7:00 PM at New Britain Stadium. This is the third time New Britain has hosted the Mid-Summer Classic and the first time since 2003. A Home Run Derby and Autograph Session will be held on Tuesday, July 9, starting at 4:00 PM.
